Why we show up
Welcome doesn’t depend on paperwork
Unitarian Universalists affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person. That includes the families in our Bay Area neighborhoods who live with the daily threat of detention and deportation. We learn the facts, organize with our neighbors, and speak up for an immigration system that keeps families together and treats every person humanely.
Learn the facts
We host Civic Academy workshops with The Metropolitan Organization (TMO). Skits, Q&A, and open discussion look at what mass deportation costs and who it affects.
Hold leaders accountable
At TMO accountability sessions, we ask candidates for county, state, and federal office to commit in public to our shared agenda, with immigration at the top.
Tell the stories
BAUUC members wrote, directed, and produced the documentary My Life in an ICE Concentration Camp. We screen it and talk it through together.
Organize statewide
We work with the Texas UU Justice Ministry and Side with Love, alongside UU congregations across Houston and the state.
Get involved
Stand with our immigrant neighbors
Come to a Civic Academy, join a TMO action, or help plan our next screening. Tell us where you’d like to help and we’ll put you in touch with the people already doing the work.
