Our vibrant youth community spans grades 6-12, offering tailored experiences for both Middle and High School students. Together, we gather on Sunday mornings, actively participate in worship, and build lasting friendships. Beyond our church walls, we engage in community service, attend local events like the Gay Pride Parade and Women’s March, and advocate for social justice.
Our dynamic program evolves each year to meet the unique needs and interests of our youth. From leading activities for younger children to exploring their own faith journeys, our young people are empowered to make a difference.
Our Middle Schoolers demonstrated their compassion and creativity last year by constructing 1,000 origami cranes as a symbol of peace and hope. Inspired by the tragic events of Hiroshima, they will soon send their cranes to join the Children’s Peace Memorial.
This year, they are exploring the complexities of life and death through a “Before I Die” wall project, inviting the congregation to share their hopes and dreams.
Our high school youth are actively shaping their community and deepening their faith. They’ve transformed their youth room into a welcoming space that reflects their ownership and creativity. Currently, they’re engaged in an in-depth exploration of the Six Sources of Unitarian Universalism, fostering critical thinking and open dialogue.
Beyond our congregation, our youth are making a positive impact through community service. They participate in local initiatives such as the Armand Bayou Trash Bash and volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. They also actively contribute to the broader Unitarian Universalist community by participating in regional events and taking a leadership role in planning and hosting a Southwestern Unitarian Universalist Conference weekend rally.
