Let The Waters Flow / In Gathering/Water communion

We return to the fullness of church life this week, celebrating our annual water communion and welcoming our new minister, and one another! Please bring water to contribute to our communal bowl, from a source that is meaningful to you in some way. Our waters will join together, as will our stories, as we travel together on the journey of another church year.

Our group of church members and friends meets using a Facebook Room every Friday at 1:00pm for knitting, crocheting, needlework, and lively conversation. The only constant is change. We change, the world changes, all things change over time. As the wheel of the year holds poised in balance, just for a moment, think about needed changes. Think about what leaves you might shed, were you a tree. We will consider what must be released so that we might continue to be transformed – and to transform the world around us.

TheBook Thiefis a historical novel and movie based on the events of the Holocaust and WWII. This 4-session workshop is an offering for ages 12 to adult. The first session is a viewing of the movie (reading the book will enrich the experience, but is not required). Subsequent sessions will focus on symbols, words and justice and how these topics, examined within the context of the movie, shape our lives today. Facilitated by Cathy Vance and Gloria Miller.Sundays: September 24th, October 1st, October 8th and October 15th.

As part of our commitment to support LGBTQ+ people in our community, BAUUC is pleased to host the monthly gatherings of the Clear Lake Small Group Meeting of PFLAG. PFLAG is the first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families. The group meets on the 4th Sunday of every month at 2:00pm in the church Sanctuary. The group works to keep families together in loving relationships, helping them understand and affirm their gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning family members. 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Comparative Religions Series
Cockrell Hall
The Speaker and Events Team of Bay Area U. U. Church is sponsoring a Comparative Religions series starting September 20. The series will be held in Cockrell Hall each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

The first religion to be examined is Islam. The presentation will be offered by Ibrahim Ezghair, Associate Imam and Administrator at the Clear Lake Islamic Center near the Church. The second program is on Hinduism and will be presented by Church member Alok Kalia. The third presentation will be on Christianity and wiil be delivered by U.U. Church member Johnny Peden. A fourth presentation on Judaism will be delivered the following week although a presenter has not yet come forward. Finally, there will be a presentation on Buddhism offered by church member David Overland.

Each of these programs is free and open to the public. Encourage friends and acquaintances to attend.
