The Tragedy and Hope of Universalism

When the Unitarians and the Universalists merged in 1961, we lost some core ideas that had been part of historical Universalism. As a result, we have experienced diminished inward spiritual depth (despite our education) and an inability to evangelize significant numbers of people (despite countless growth campaigns, branding, messaging and reorganizing). But seeds of hope remain! Rev. Schaal served as our Interim Minister here at BAUUC from 2010 to 2012. He has recently returned to Houston and is currently serving as the Transitional Assistant Minister at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church.
