BAUUC is pleased to welcome Dr. Asim Shah to speak on Tuesday April 17 at 6:00pm in the sanctuary. Dr. Asim Shah is the Chief of Psychiatry of Harris Health System/Ben Taub Hospital and the Director of the Community Behavioral Health Program for the Harris Health System. This system is the largest outpatient provider for Mental Health services in Harris County. He is also the Director of the Mood Disorder Research Program. His research focuses on treatment-resistant depression and ketamine. He is Executive Director of Psychotherapy Services for Ben Taub Hospital and Professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and the Department of Community and Family Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine. At Baylor, he trains psychiatry residents, medical students and social workers in Psychiatry, Neurology and Internal Medicine, as well as Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Shah has won faculty teaching awards and has presented nationally and internationally on topics such as ketamine and depression, stress management, work-related stress, road rage and mass shootings.
