Community Garden Workday

15 juniors from Yes Prep East End School volunteered in our garden on October 2. They pitched in and worked for 3 hours under very muddy conditions. The group pulled weeds and shoveled mud from our parking area adjacent to the garden. Our Community Garden has been selected to receive the Green Jeans Award by Urban Harvest, an Association of Community Gardens. The award is based on the potlucks we have hosted the last three years, the community that our garden has encouraged, and the use of new compost and mulch in our garden maintenance.  Siok Hong Chen-Baden has been nominated for the outstanding gardener.  Our next Garden Workday will be on Saturday November 17 from 8:00am to noon.
