On Wednesdays December 12 and 19, Dr. Cindy Ripsin MD will be presenting two workshops titled “Toward a Greater Understanding of Our Opioid Crisis.” She will be discussing the history, nature and scope of this important public health epidemic. This presentation will allow you to become more familiar with the basic language of addiction, dependence, and chronic and acute pain. The facts pertinent to this crisis will be separated from fictional lore and participants will be invited to discuss their questions, ideas and concerns for managing this crisis through the lens of Unitarian Universalism.
Classes will be held in the church library starting at 7:00pm, following our weekly Wednesday Night dinner and worship service. Child care could be arranged if requested in advance.
The Women’s Spirituality Group offers women the chance to share our lives and deepen our spirituality together. The group will meet next on Thursday December 13 from 10:00am to 11:30am in room 131. Newcomers are always warmly welcomed! For more information, contact Julie Blanford at email@example.com

Ring in the holidays on Saturday December 15 at our annual All-Church Holiday Potluck Party. We’ll provide some delicious smoked ham and festive holiday drinks and ask you to bring a side dish to share. We’ll celebrate the season with singing carols and enjoy a Talent Show featuring performances from church members, young and old. If you have a talent you would like to share, please contact Brenda Cockrell at 281-488-2767. Children especially are invited to show off their talents. Mark your calendar for a fun evening on December 15 at 6:30pm in the Cockrell Fellowship Hall.
Brighten up your holidays with these beautiful seasonal flowers. We have ordered poinsettias from the Brookwood Center and will have them for sale outside Cockrell Hall beginning on Sunday December 16. Cost is $10 each. Please consider purchasing one for your home and one for our church sanctuary for Christmas Eve. Your purchase will help provide support, scholarships and educational programs for adults with disabilities at the Brookwood Center.
